What We DO

Quite simply we take old sash windows and give them a new lease of life. Without expert maintenance over the years sash windows can become difficult to open, draughty and in some cases painted shut. This means rooms can become cold and poorly ventilated. Not only does this make it difficult and expensive to heat the rooms, but the risk of damp and condensation is increased.

How We DO it

All the work is carried out from the inside of the property, doing way with the need for expensive scaffold or access equipment. Once the area around the window is cleared and protective sheeting laid the work commences.

Sash Removal aNd Preparation

Each sash is carefully removed and inspected. Then each sash is prepared to receive a draught proof carrier and easy release sash cord grips. These two elements are then fixed to the window. Once the draught proof pile is inserted in the carriers the sash is ready to put back.

Weigh Removal, inspection and re-cording

Normally the opportunity to replace the sash cord is taken at this point. This entails the removal of the weights from the weight pockets, cleaning up and re-cording. The weight of the window is check against the existing weights and any adjustment made.

Sash RE-installation

With the sashes ready to go back in the windows are given a final clean. Then the outer sash is re-installed into it’s original positions. A new draught reducing bead is installed between the inner and outer sashes, which helps to reduce draughts, rattles and keeps the window moving smoothly. Then the inner sash is re-installed. Finally new internal beads, with built-in draught pile, are fixed into place.
